Simply Sofia is a collection of handmade natural stone jewelry designed and created to meet our highest standards. Our designs include plated 18K Gold, .925 Silver and solid 14K gold; each of these metals will need various degrees of care. It is critical to follow the proper care instructions outlined below to ensure your piece endures the test of time.
Avoid contact with all chemicals, including but not limited to, cleaning products, perfumes, lotions, aerosol sprays and even water, when possible. The chemicals in pools and drinking water can also bleach natural stones. Any and all chemicals can tarnish, dull, and scratch precious metals, gold-plating and natural stones. Gently wipe down your Simply Sofia Jewelry with a soft cloth to retain its luster at the end of each day.
Avoid humidity, heat and overexposure to sun by removing your jewelry when you sleep, exercise and shower. All Simply Sofia Handmade jewelry purchased will come with a cotton pouch and anti-tarnish paper tab. In some cases an anti-tarnish bag will also accompany your select jewelry piece; it is advised when storing your jewelry to keep it in these bags. Each gemstone jewelry piece should be stored separately in different pouches to prevent any unforeseen instances of excessive scratching or tarnishing. Please keep in mind that semi-precious beads are created in nature and as such may vary in size, shape and color.
Most importantly, your stones are ENERGY. They emit and absorb the energies in and around you. At times you may feel compelled to cleanse and clear the energies of your stones. Whenever you are guided to do so, burn Sage, Palo Santo or incense and envelope your stones in their smoke; this method is called smudging. (We also sell smudging kits to assist with this process - just inquire)! During this time, you may call on the assistance of the Archangels and your Guardian Angels to clear the energy while you visualize a bright white, blue or green light radiating around them. Another effective way to cleanse and recharge your stones is to use the energy of the moon. The moon is a very powerful catalyst in recharging energies.
